Of course, Mike doesn’t do it all by himself! Team Warford has a great back-up crew to keep the show on the road…
Older than she cares to have recorded here, Linda has been around a LONG time ..! Horses and competing (dressage and all Riding Club disciplines, particularly Quadrille and Teams of Three) have always been top priority in her life which fortunately husband John very quickly learnt to understand.
Since rescuing a certain pair of Shetland ponies in 2002 her life has never quite been the same! In 2004 she broke Brownie to harness with the help of friend Janet Dines, and began to compete him at local events. As well as schooling the ponies both under saddle and from the ground and keeping them fit, she is Mike’s expert backstepper. However, she now finds it difficult to get on the box seat due to a certain young man being in it most of the time…
More commonly referred to as ‘Mike’s mum’ or ‘Linda’, Louise is chief caterer, groom, dresser and tea maker. Having ridden for many years, Louise has been well and truly bitten by the driving bug and takes the reins whenever she gets the chance. Louise qualified for the Indoor Finals in 2009 with family horse Clyde, and had a great time with the help of backstepper extraordinaire Andrew Goodden! A fantastic cook, Louise has ensured that mealtimes in the Hodgson camp are legendary both at home and abroad!
Anna acts as tech support for the team, maintaining the website and taking charge of photography, video editing and tea drinking. When she’s not attached to her laptop she rides all the ponies, schooling them under saddle to help with their driven dressage. She also backsteps for Mike when he is driving the team, and is an expert at remembering obstacles and holding on tight. On occasion she can even be heard urging Mike to go faster! Anna competes the Shetlands at Novice level dressage, qualifying for the Trailblazers National Finals twice with both Blackie and Brownie. Although she loves all the ponies, Blackie is her favourite and always her first choice for a good gallop!
Corky is Linda’s young German Shepherd and our team mascot. He is very affectionate and always full of fun. He enjoys burning off his seemingly endless energy whilst ‘assisting’ in walking the marathon courses. He can also be found ‘helping’ to load the ponies into the lorry, keeping up with Mike’s quad bike or playing with his friends during the indoor driving events!
